CONDITION OF PARTS WHEN RECEIVED
It is of the utmost importance that parts are received in a clean condition. Our quotes usually state that all parts must arrive in a clean condition ready for plating. Unless we have specifically quoted additional cleaning for your parts, all parts much arrive in a clean condition ready for processing. Any parts quoted for additional cleaning must be accompanied by an MSDS for any substances that are on the surface of your parts. Before any parts are processed they are thoroughly inspected to determine if in the proper condition to receive the plating requested. For orders not arriving not ready to plate, an additional cleaning charge will be added to your PO. We will notify you of the charge and why and will need approval from you before proceeding. Your order will be placed on hold until you approve the cleaning charge.
BAKING
Some substrate materials require baking to relieve stress from prior manufacturing operations before plating. Some materials are more susceptible to hydrogen enbrittlement and may require baking before and after plating. A basis, generic guide is supplied below:
Pre-Bake General
All steel parts having an ultimate tensile strength of 150 psi (33 Rc hardness) or above depending on the plating process, which are machined, ground, cold formed, cold straightened, or surface hardened, shall be baked at a temperature that will produce maximum stress relief without reducing the material hardness to less than the specified minimum.
Post-Bake General
All coated steel parts having an ultimate tensile strength of 160 ksi (36 Rc hardness) and higher shall be baked within four hours after plating in accordance with customer specified requirements.
INSPECTION
Upon receipt of your parts, PC will perform a visual inspection of your parts according to our sampling plan and will advise you of any incoming defects before the surface finishing process starts. Further visual and thickness inspection is carried out a various stages of the surface finishing process. PC verifies coating thickness to customer specifications only. If any dimensional thickness coating to specific areas on the part is required of if you require any added inspection, additional charges may apply.
You must specify additional inspection requirements at the quoting stage, or on your purchase order.
If your parts require 100% inspection or need to be sorted, an additional charge will be communicated to your company.
DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS
PC will not process an order without current drawings to the revision level noted on your PO and your current specifications.
Any deviations to the purchase order, specification or drawing much be done by email or fax.
REWORKS
If you need to return product to PC for rework, please contact Donny Cooper by phone or email at dcooper@pcoftitusville.net. Once the parts are returned to PC we will complete a thorough investigation to determine if the finishing process was the cause of the problem. If it is determined that the problem was not due to PC’s workmanship, we will contact you with the results of our investigation and to discuss the details at that time.
SHIPPING
We will return your parts to you per your purchase order instructions. If our purchase order does not call out packing requirements, we will package as shipped to us and take reasonable steps to ensure that parts will not be damaged. Additional charges may apply.
We ship most packages under 150 pounds and maximum allowable dimensions via UPS. The shipping will be prepaid and added to your invoice. If requesting any other shipping company we must have your account number.
All shipments via trucking companies will be freight collect only.
